Charming and sweet, it was a joy to spend the day with the Stonekings.
The day was heavy with clouds and there was no sun in sight, but it didn’t bother us! There was however a wayward goose that caused much mischief. When you are shooting in a public park, you never know what you will run into! It started as soon as we arrived. I stepped out of my Suburban to meet and greet the family. Immediately this silly goose comes running at me and the dad and his little charming daughter. The little girl was horrified and I was kind of frozen, mystified as to why this goose is acting so weird. We went in circles around the vehicles, first being chased by the ornery critter, then we chased it, trying to convince it to go away. The goose wanted nothing to do with our ideas though and finally parked itself under my car. That finally settled and we went about our shoot. The kiddos were great even though it was cold outside. We had a good time and captured lots of genuine smiles.
I had forgotten about the goose when I was heading back to my car,
but he reminded me of his presence quickly enough when I reached the door by trying to jump in with me! I ran it off a bit, then attempted to get in my car again and once again it went for the door. By this time I was thinking, something is wrong with this poor guy. (Yes, I was thinking that maybe it was asking me for help. I’m goofy, what can I say). So I grabbed my blanket out of the back of the car, tossed it over the delusional goose and scooped it up….total expecting to get an eye pecked out. I cautiously drove it up to the Park Patrol and explained the crazy behavior. The guy laughed and said that sometimes they get super tame ones fly in and they get a little too friendly. He then helped me get the friendly goose far enough away that I could quickly jump in my car and drive away without an extra passenger. I’m still laughing about it.
